Science Week 3.0

Science Week at Chu Cho Environmental is an annual event dedicated to taking the time to slow down and share the results of their environmental projects with the Tsay Keh Dene community. As an environmental research and consulting business owned by the Tsay Keh Dene Nation, sharing their work with the citizens of the community is a core part of their values.

This year's Science Week was split into three major themes - BC Hydro's Fish and Wildlife Compensation Program, the Environmental Stewardship Initiative, and industry operating in the territory. The week consisted of classroom presentations, open house visits, and community dinners, with different presenters sharing the details of their work and projects each day.

The week was made even more special by the presence of guests from the University of Victoria, the Province of British Columbia, BC Hydro, and other independent biologists who joined in from as far as Victoria and Revelstoke. Visitors were encouraged to participate in a "passport-style" prize system, where they could collect stamps from visiting different booths and enter a ticket for a chance to win the grand prize - a chainsaw.

To cap off the week, Chu Cho Environmental hosted an ice fishing event with the Tsay Keh Dene School, where the Finlay River flows into the Williston Reservoir. The event was a success, with food, fires, and rods all set up for a day of fishing.

Science Week 2023 at Chu Cho Environmental was a great success, and the company is already looking forward to next year's event. It's important for them to take the time to slow down and share their work with the community, as it allows for a better understanding of their projects and builds credibility as a reputable and credible partner.
